Rob Potter

Hi, I’m Rob — a qualified Mechanical and Civil Engineer with a diverse background spanning engineering, automotive, logistics, retail, and public services. I’ve worked with Porsche and Ford in vehicle body repair, contributed to highways design for Nottinghamshire County Council, and held roles in warehousing, the prison service, and logistics, all of which have given me broad multidisciplinary experience and a strong foundation in customer service.
Alongside my career, I ran a fitness business for 15 years, training with and teaching some well-known names in the industry.
I joined Hethel Innovation Ltd. in February 2021 as Operations Coordinator, following a role at Amazon. Since then, I’ve been part of a team driving operational improvements at Hethel Engineering Centre, from streamlining day-to-day processes to contributing to larger changes that have enhanced how the centre functions. I’ve also helped introduce more collaborative services aimed at reducing costs for members and building a stronger sense of community.
With my engineering background, I’m confident working across different disciplines and enjoy approaching challenges with creative thinking. I’m passionate about supporting ongoing improvements at the centre for the benefit of both the company and its members.
If you could be on any TV Show, what would it be and why?
Buffy the Vampire Slayer – seriously, do I need to say why? I have the DVD collection and the spin-off with Angel; this is a cult show with Sarah Michelle Gellar. The show had everything: one-liners, comedy, thrills, vampires, monsters, good story plots, and each episode lasted an hour. The show is one of the few I can watch over and over again without getting bored. And it has a huge cult following.
You’re stranded on a deserted island and can only bring one meal with you to eat indefinitely, what would it be and why?
6-layer Beef Lasagna, why? Because I love it, but it makes me fat, so I currently eat it in moderation. But on a deserted island, I need to keep my strength up, and therefore it’s a filling meal in one.
What 3 things in your bag can’t you live without?
Spare contact lens, Hay fever tablets and my phone with loads of music on it.
