SCENIQ: How a collectively-owned company in Norfolk is transforming creative industry stage design

by Imogen Shipperlee | 10th Apr 2025 | Scottow Enterprise Park

In an industry where first impressions count, SCENIQ has rapidly become a powerhouse in the creative industry, touring music, live events, and immersive stage design. The close-knit team came together after the owners of their previous company retired in 2024, SCENIQ was born and is now thriving as a collectively owned company with a combined 134 years of experience in creating unforgettable on-stage experiences.

We recently sat down with Harry Harrison, Co-Owner and Head of Technical at SCENIQ to find out more about their journey in becoming a successful touring production company used by big names in the music industry. Below are the key takeaways from our conversation, as well as the link to view our full conversation with Harry.

A Legacy of Exceptional Creations

From crafting the full set for James Blunt’s 2025 tour—including a custom LED monkey, LED frame, drapes, scenic elements, and flooring—to creating the bespoke backdrop for Charli XCX’s UK tour, SCENIQ’s portfolio is as diverse as it is impressive. Their work doesn’t stop at tours; for example, at National Trust sites, Felbrigg Hall and Blickling Hall, they designed and built indoor Christmas displays featuring custom LED clouds, artificial tree projections, and other scenic elements that capture the local spirit.

Over the past year, SCENIQ has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Busted, Deep Purple, Keane, David Grey, Elbow, Fontaines DC, Squeeze, Aurora, Franz Ferdinand, Jess Glyne, Winter Wonderland London, Bastille, Jungle, Kooks, Inhaler, and The Wombats. These projects underscore SCENIQ’s ability to deliver resilient, tour-ready stage designs while maintaining a creative flair that sets each production apart.

Ethical, Sustainable, and Collective

SCENIQ distinguishes itself not only through its innovative designs and exceptional craftsmanship but also by operating as an ethical co-op. As a collectively owned company, every member of the team plays a vital role in decision making, ensuring transparency, fairness, and a shared commitment to sustainability. This ethical approach underpins every project, fostering a collaborative environment where creative solutions are developed with both social responsibility and environmental stewardship at heart.

Building a Future of Collaborative Innovation

SCENIQ’s journey is defined by its entrepreneurial drive and commitment to collective success. Their evolution from a traditional set design company to a cooperative that continually pushes the boundaries of stage design is a testament to their passion for innovation. Whether it’s integrating bespoke LED solutions, handcrafted props, or full CAD-designed stage sets, SCENIQ is dedicated to transforming initial visions into live, electrifying performances.

Looking ahead, the company is excited to continue growing within the touring and creative industry while forging deeper connections with local businesses. Their forward‑thinking approach is set to redefine live events and inspire creative partnerships across sectors—from product launches to high profile corporate events.

At SCENIQ, every project is built with precision and a commitment to excellence. Their services include:

  • Touring Band Stage Designs: Robust and dynamic sets that are road tested for global tours.
  • Theatre Productions: Immersive stage sets and handcrafted props that bring stories to life.
  • Exhibition Stands: Bold, brand-focused structures with interactive elements.
  • Corporate Events: Bespoke displays featuring integrated LED solutions and 3D artwork that captivate audiences.

With a legacy of working with names like Kylie and Iron Maiden, SCENIQ’s designs are celebrated worldwide, and their creative journey is only just beginning.

Leveraging the Hethel Innovation Advantage

SCENIQ’s operations are further enhanced by their base at the Hethel Innovation run Scottow Enterprise Park — a dynamic and growing enterprise park in Norfolk, designed to support range of businesses covering sectors such as creative industries, advanced manufacturing and clean energy. This strategic location has been a game‑changer for the company. With access to a vibrant community of innovative businesses, SCENIQ has benefited from:

  • Flexible Workspace Solutions: Renting an additional larger unit on‑site short-term allowed them to scale up for bigger set builds without incurring the overhead of unused space during smaller projects.
  • A Quieter, Greener Environment: Scottow Enterprise Park offers a relaxed and environmentally friendly setting. Access to the site’s amenities such as the on-site community woodland means staff can go on lunch-time walks through the site, allowing creativity to flourish.
  • Collaborative Growth: The supportive, innovation-driven environment encourages connections between local businesses, opening doors to opportunities such as product launches, corporate events, and more.
