I’m a qualified Chartered Accountant with almost 25 years’ experience in general practice across Norfolk.  For the last decade, I’ve run my own small accountancy practice – supporting SMEs and charities with their accounting and taxation needs.

I’m really new into this role right now, and everyday is a learning experience.  The enthusiasm of the whole team for continual process development and improvement is infectious.

Unlike other finance roles, it’s not just about churning out the same set of numbers, month-on-month, for the sake of it – that part should be almost automatic.

The exciting thing is using the technology we have available to harness a range of data sources in ever deeper ways and, through this, bring better business insights to the table – both for HIL and also the businesses it supports.

Now, I’m starting a new chapter bringing this skill set to HIL – I’m excited to see where this will lead.

Away from the desk, I’m a keen (armchair) sports follower, have a wife and son (and a neurotic cockapoo!).  We’re a household full of Danish plastic brick fans (did you know some of it is made from plant-based plastics now?) and enjoy getting out in the Norfolk Countryside and travelling further afield in our Campervan.
